infoIntroduction
The main goal of the ARENHA project is to develop, integrate and demonstrate key material solutions that enable the use of ammonia for flexible, safe and cost-effective energy storage and utilization.
Ammonia is an excellent energy carrier due to its high energy density, carbon-free composition, industrial know-how and relative ease of storage. ARENHA aims to demonstrate the viability of ammonia as an attractive form of large-scale energy storage, while also enabling the integration of renewable energies.
Specifically, the ARENHA project will develop and advanced Solid Oxide Cell (SOEC) material for renewable hydrogen production, catalysts for ammonia synthesis at low temperature and pressure, solid sorbents for ammonia intensification and storage, and catalysts and membrane reactors for ammonia decomposition.
The energy discharge processes studied at ARENHA address various applications of ammonia such as its decomposition into pure H2 for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV), direct use of ammonia in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) for electric power and in Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) for mobility.
footprintWhat is a footprinter?
Footprinters are user-friendly and robust web-tools allowing users to compare technologies, based on different scenarios. Footprinters are easy-to-use and visualize and of high scientific quality at the same time. To make the results more accessible to the large public.
targetObjectives of this footprinter
The aim of this footprinter is to inform the user about the different scenarios contemplated in the ARENHA project. Through a comparison based on the mobility and electricity consumption of each scenario, the aim is to provide information of the technologies used, thus enabling an evaluation of which of them is the most cost-effective and sustainable from an environmental perspective.
